New Dates, Same Locations
In previous years, the Sun Valley Film Festival had always been held in late winter, almost celebrating the end of ski season as well as all the wonderful movies being shown, but in 2024 it was decided to move it to the front end of ski season and see how well that worked. Well, it worked fabulously, and from 2025 on, the first week of December will be when you need to make your way to the mountains for nearly a week of fun and films! Offering a celebration of documentaries, short films, director’s cuts, early releases and more, if you are a movie buff, Sun Valley will heighten your excitement levels, giving you a glimpse of the glamorous world of show business, including television, as episodic content (TV shows) has been added to the mix as well!
Three Ways to Celebrate
As with most festivals there are multiple ways to attend, and we thought we would take a few minutes of your time to delve a little deeper into the passes you can purchase for this festival of fun and film. We won’t talk prices, because those can change on a regular basis, but you can always visit the Sun Valley Film Festival page if you need to know how much each will cost in advance.
Patron Pass
The Patron Pass will be the most expensive, offer more extras, and is tax deductible as well, making it a popular choice for true film fans. Patrons are admitted first into the film venues, Coffee Talks, and panels, and will receive an exclusive invitation to the Private Winter Screening Dinner Party held on Saturday night. You will also be invited to the Bloody Mary Wrap Party held at the end of the festival, doubling your chances of meeting your favorite celebrity and you will receive Green Room Lounge Access throughout the entire event.
Series Pass & Film Pass
Less expensive and also offering less amenities, guests with a series pass will be admitted after the patrons, will not receive invitations to the Dinner Party or Wrap Party, but will enjoy Green Room Lounge Access that offers the opportunity to mingle with special guests, enjoy pre-event receptions, snacks, and a full bar. The Film Pass, the least expensive of the three, will get you into the film and event venues after patrons and series pass holders have been admitted.

The Magic Doesn’t End at the Festival’s Exit Gate
There is just something wonderful about being snuggled beneath a cozy blanket, a fire crackling, and your favorite movie playing on the big screen as the snow falls gently to the ground outside the windows of your vacation rental, something you will soon discover for yourself. Our Rentals for Sun Valley Film Festival are equipped with modern televisions featuring large screens and crystal-clear pictures, and if you find yourself ducking the bullets the hero is shooting or talking back to the actors on the screen, you may find yourself wondering if you really want to venture out into the cold for the next day’s festivities, but we think you should. We really do! There aren’t any dedicated home theaters in these spaces at the moment, but we do offer supersized televisions in almost every room in the house, and in some you may find more than one television mounted to the wall, giving a viewing experience nearly as nice as the ones you’ve experienced at the festival.
Warm, Cozy, and Relaxing
The excitement of the festival is sure to keep you wired, which is why you will love coming home to our warm and cozy spaces every night of your stay. Central heat will help you stay warm, but fireplaces in most living rooms and in many bedrooms as well will add charm and romance to your stay. We’ve lived in snow country for more years than we can count, and as such, we know all the ways to help guests stay warm. You may find colorful throws tossed across the backs of sofas, thick and soft bedding on beds, and area rugs on the floor, laid out for the specific purpose of keeping our guests warm.

The Patron Pass is the only one offering a charity write off when purchased, however, if you feel making a charitable contribution to the Sun Valley Film Festival of at least $150, your dollars will be put to good use and you can write that amount off on your taxes.
