The History of Park City
A Mid-19th Century Mining Town
The silver rush that made Park City so wealthy eventually began to wind down and as it did, residents began to look to their natural resources as a new avenue for bringing in visitors. Outdoor recreation opportunities abounded in the area, and it was clear that Park City had the potential to be rebranded as an oasis of outdoor thrills! By 1963 a ski resort called Treasure Mountain was realized in the area and was instantly a great success. Eventually, the resort would go on to be named Park City Mountain Resort. Deer Valley Resort and Canyons Resort followed in its wake bringing in even more visitors and residents alike. Today, Park City is a year-round recreational haven and a place that visitors and residents love for its horseback riding, biking, hiking, rafting, and fly-fishing to name a few of many. While the history of Park City is still rich here, it’s hard to ignore the modern marvels that have evolved out of the story.
